'Arrambam' Box Office Collection (Overseas): Ajith Starrer Earns Over 1.6 crore in First Weekend

Ajith's "Arrambam" is performing extremely well not just in India but also in key overseas markets including US, UK and Australia.

The film, which hit the screens on 31 October, opened to rave reviews from critics and the audiences alike. The Ajith starrer seems to be the first choice of the public among other Diwali releases. The actor has once again proved that he is the undisputable king of box office with "Arrambam" raking in good collections. The film has given Ajith his best ever opening in India and is all set to be another hit in the actor's career.

The Vishnuvardhan directorial has done excellent business in overseas markets as well. According to film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh, "Arrambam" has minted around 1.34 crore from 37 screens during the opening weekend at the UK box office. The film's gross collections from Australia are pegged at 33.05 lakh (7 screens). Details about its collections from US markets are still awaited.

Tamil film Arrambam is excellent. Opening weekend: UK £ 135,223 [Rs 1.34 cr]... Australia A$ 55,953 [Rs 33.05 lacs]... USA total to be updated.

"Arrambam" has grossed better collections than Suriya's "Singam 2" which fetched £109,483 in its first week at the UK box office. The stylish, action-packed entertainer has surpassed "Singam 2" collections in its first weekend earning £135,223. The film is expected to continue its good run at the box office for a few more weeks until new Tamil films hit screens.

With two hit films ("Billa" and "Arrambam") to their credit, Ajith and Vishnu have proved to be a lucky pair. It remains to be seen if the duo will team up again for a third film. However, it might not happen in the near future as Ajith is currently busy with his other film commitments. The actor's upcoming film "Veeram" is gearing up for a release in January 2014.

He has also committed to work in Gautham Menon's project, which is expected to go on floors in February next year.
