Ajith's Thala 55 to release on Pongal

Thala Ajith's next flick directed by Gautham Menon has been progressing at a rapid pace. The film starring Ajith, Anushka and Trisha in the lead was expected to hit the screens in November. But the latest buzz suggests that the film may hit the screens for Pongal in January 2015. Harris Jayaraj is scoring the music for the film and Dan Macarthur is handling the cinematography.

The yet to be titled movie 'Thala 55' is a cop flick produced by AM Rathnam. Meanwhile, music director Harris Jayaraj is prepping his new studio and 'Thala55' will be the first movie he will be composing for at the new state of the art premises. Ajith-Vijay fans' special plans ahead of release
Celebrations are on at the theatres much before Pongal as Ajith and Vijay fans gear up for the release of Veeram and Jilla. Nearly after six years, the films of these two stars are clashing at the box office and, as a popular Tamil film phrase goes, it's the season for 'Thala Thalapathy'. And their fans seem to be joining hands in celebration — while we hear that the Ajith fan clubs across the city are planning a special mention about Vijay's Jilla in their banners, Ilayathalapathy's fan club members are likely to wish Veeram too in their promotional banners.

Sachin Mani, one of the heads of the Ajith's fan club association in the city, says, "We don't want to give room for any clash between the fans at the theatres. So, we are designing some of our Veeram banners wishing Vijay's Jilla as well. The banners will have pictures of both Vijay and Ajith, and will wish both the films success. It will say 'Vijayin Jillavum vetri pera vaazhthugirom'. We are sure that our Thala will like this initiative of ours."

So, what's happening in the Jilla camp? "Some of the banners promoting Jilla will have a tagline wishing Ajith's Veeram as well," says Vijay Elango, who is part of Ilayathalapathy's fan cub in the city. Apart from this, the regular celebrations that are part of a big film release, including giant cutouts, garlands, will take place this season too.

Thala Ajith’s ‘V’ connection continues with Veeram
Thala Ajith was Vinayak in Mankatha and he will be Vinayakam, yet again, in his next release Veeram. "The name of the character (Vinayakam) was part of the original script itself and we stuck to it," said director 'Siruthai' Siva, at a press meet recently, "When I went to Ajith sir's house to narrate the entire story, he was in a rugged look and we decided to have the same tone for the film too. It was a different experience for Ajith as he is doing a rural film after a while."

The letter 'V' has always been lucky for the star. While Veeram starts with the letter, the name of Ajith's character in the film starts with the same alphabet as well. His previous hits in Kollywood — Vaali, Varalaaru and Villain - all start with the same alphabet too.

Ajith Wanted to Do a Rural Pot-boiler: 'Veeram' Director
Ajith Kumar-starrer Tamil rural actioner "Veeram" is coming out Jan 10 on the occasion of Pongal, and its director Siva said that it was the actor who wanted him to come up with a rural commercial entertainer.

Ajith essayed suave urban roles in his last three outings - "Mankatha", "Billa 2" and "Arrambam".

"It was Ajith who wanted me to do a rural commercial entertainer for him and not the other way around. I never forced him to work in a rural pot-boiler. We worked hard for 110 days and we are extremely happy with the final product," Siva told reporters here at a promotional event of the film.

"It has been a long time since we saw Ajith in a complete rural avatar. I'm sure this will be one of the biggest highlight of the film. His transformation from an urban character to rural one is commendable and it will be evident in 'Veeram'," he added.

Also starring Tamannah Bhatia, Nassar, Santhanam, Ramesh Khanna, Pradeep Rawat and Vidyullekha Raman, the film is produced by Bharathi Reddy.

Ajith to celebrate daughter's birthday on cruise

After wrapping up work on his Veeram, Ajith has taken off to Australia with his family — wife Shalini, daughter Anoushka, Shamili and Richard. We hear that he will also go on a cruise in the island continent and ring in his daughter's birthday on the cruise.

A source close to the actor tells us, "Ajith saw the final version of his film before he left a few days ago. He personally met the producer and the director, and thanked them for the opportunity, and also called up all the technicicans to wish them. After Christmas, he took off to Australia, and joined a cruise, that will go from Sydney to Wellington. It's a family vacation of sorts, with Shalini's siblings, Shamili and Richard, also joining them. They will be celebrating the New Year and Anoushka's birthday on the cruise, and return on January 9, a day before the film's release."

Ajith's Veeram Now Eligible For 30% Tax Exemption
Ajith Kumar's much-hyped Veeram seems to have passed its last hurdle as the Tamil flick has passed in the censor tests. The flick has been given clean 'U' certificate from Regional Censor Board.

The members from the Regional Censor Board saw Veeram on Tuesday (December 24) and they were happy with the outcomes except some minors cuts. Hence, they gave 'U' certificate for the Tamil film. With this development, it is now eligible for 30% Tax exemption from the state government.

Directed by Siruthai Siva, the film also has Vidharth, Santhanam, Pradeep Rawat, Ramesh Khanna, Appukutty and Abhinaya.

Devi Sri Prasad has scored the music and the audio was launched recently. With the success of Arrambam recently, the fans would be hoping for another successful hit film from their star. With Vijay's Jilla also planned for a Pongal release, looks like both the fans are going to have an awesome festival treat early next year.

K.V.Anand to work with Ajith?
Much to the surprise and delight of fans news about Ajith's forthcoming films is coming one after another. While his next release would be the Siva Directed Veeram, slated to release on Pongal 2014, the star is all set to start working in the film that would mark the union of Ajith and famed director Gautham Vasudev Menon. The untitled flick is scheduled to kick start in February 2014.

Now the news on Ajith's union with another noted Director has started surfacing. And the name is  K.V.Anand the Director of super hit films like Ayan, Ko and Maatran.

The Cinematographer turned Director is currently wielding the megaphone for the Dhanush starrer Anegan. After finishing this film he is expected to approach Ajith with a Script. The script is reported to be the one that Anand had narrated to Super Star Rajnikanth who could not accommodate it since he has some other plans after finishing his upcoming film Kochadaiiyaan.

It is worth remembering that Ajith was the initial choice for K.V.Anand's 2011 super hit film KO which went to Jiva later on.

Tamil movie Jilla became the talk of the town after they announced that Mohanlal is a part of the movie along with Illayathalapathy Vijay. Now, something more is happening in Mollywood. The audio launch of "Veeram" was expected to take place on 7 December, but it did not happen. Directed by Siva, "Veeram" is touted to be a commercial entertainer set in a rural backdrop. The film's story revolves around Ajith and his four brothers played by Bala, Vidarth, Munish and Suhail. Actress Tammannah plays the female lead, whereas other cast members include Santhanam, Nassar, Devadarshini and Vidhyulekha Raman.

With just about a month left for Pongal, fans need to wait a little longer to find out whether these two films impress the audience.

Ajith's turns 'Motta Boss'

Thala Ajith and his 'Veeram' director Siva have tonsured their heads at the famous Tirumala temple in Tirupati. With 'Veeram' set to hit the screen for Pongal early next year, the star and the director seemed to have offered their hair, praying for the success of their movie.

It is said that both, tonsured their head as a sign of thanksgiving to the Lord, for the successful completion of Veeram. While, stars have tonsured their heads for movies, Ajith has done it just to offer his prayers to the almighty. Actor Vikram had shaven of his hair for director Shankar's 'Ai' and so did Bharath for '555'. Our very own superstar Rajinikanth had also done it for 'Sivaji'.

With Ajith, set to joing hands with Gautham Menon soon, one wonder what be the star's new hairstyle for the film.

Ajith dances and fights in Veeram's introduction song

In Kollywood, introduction songs of hero have always been loved and cheered by the audience. Keeping this in mind, director Siva has filmed the intro song of Ajith in Veeram in an interesting way. We hear that the song will feature the actor and his onscreen brothers doing heavy movements, along with action stunts!

"We wanted to film the intro song of Ajith in a special way. So, we decided to incorporate both action stunts and dance movements in it. Choreographer Prem Rakshit and stunt director Selvam put their heads together and came up with very interesting and challenging steps for this song. I think this is probably the first time that both a dance master and a stunt master are working on a song. We have filmed this one on Ajith and his brothers (played by Vitharth, Bala, Munish and Suhail Chandhok), and this number will introduce the characters they play to the audience," says Siva, quickly adding, "This number won't be like the background songs that play during action sequences in other films."

Simbu Will Not be Part of Ajith-Gautham Menon Film

Rumours were doing the rounds that Simbu will be part of the new Ajith-Gautham Menon film that is set to go on floors in February 2014.

It is well known that Simbu is a hardcore fan of Thala Ajith, so it would have been interesting to see the actors coming together for a film. However, sources close to the director and Ajith have termed the reports as baseless rumours. "It is true that Gautam Menon and Ajith are coming together for AM Ratnam's project. But Simbu is not a part of the project. All the news on this regard are baseless rumours and the audience are requested not to give into them."

Gautham had earlier announced that he will join hands with Suriya for "Dhruva Natchathriam" this year. But the "Singam 2" actor opted out of the film, citing that he did not get the complete script despite waiting for a year. Following Suriya's exit from the project, Gautham moved on and started a new film with Simbu. The film's shooting is progressing at a brisk pace and is expected to be completed soon. Television actress Pallavi Shubash plays the female lead, while the music is composed by AR Rahman.

On the other hand, Ajith is awaiting the release of his upcoming project "Veeram." The commercial entertainer, directed by "Siruthai" Siva, will hit the screens in January 2014. The actor's film with Gautham will go on floors on 15 February. Pallavi is again likely to be roped in as the heroine in this untitled flick, touted to be a big-budget entertainer. However, details about other cast members are yet to be revealed. This is the first time that the actor and director are teaming up for a film. Although they had tried to work in the past, things did not materialise.

Arrambam’s Telugu version well-received
Thala Ajith's recent release Arrambam, directed by Vishnuvardhan was a success in the Box Office. The Telugu version of the film, Aata Arrambam was released on December 6 and we hear that the film is being well-received in Andhra Pradesh.

Rana Daggubati, Taapsee Pannu and Nayanthara, who are already big names in Tollywood have only upped the ante. Ajith's performance in the film seems to have come in for a lot of praise. If the film continues to run in theaters, courtesy the word-of-mouth, then it will turn out to be a hit in Andhra Pradesh, too.

Watch Rustic Ajith in Veeram
Veeram, the action masala family entertainer from the stables of director Siruthai Siva is raising feverish expectations of fans of Ajith and film buffs after Ajith’s earlier releases that showed him in stylish urban chic.

Veeram story is set against the rural backdrop and is a Ottanchathiram-based movie. The storyline revolves around five brothers played by Ajith Kumar, Vidarth, Bala, Munish and Suhail. Produced by Vijaya Productions, Tamanna Bhatia plays the female lead opposite Ajith in Veeram.

The recently released teaser of Veeram showing off Ajith in white dhoti and shirt in his trademark ‘salt and pepper look’ and uttering ‘enna naan solradhu’  has sent his fans in a tizzy.

The film’s music composed by Devi Sri Prasad is expected to be released sometime this month and the film will hit the theatres on January 10, 2014

'Aata Arrambam' Box Office Collection: Ajith Starrer Gets Average Opening in Andhra Pradesh.

Ajith's recently-released Telugu film "Aata Arrambam" (aka "Aata Arambham") has taken an average opening at the Andhra Pradesh box office.

The action entertainer, which released on 6 December, received mixed reviews (but mostly positive) from critics. The film managed to take an average opening despite new Telugu releases. According to Andhraboxoffice, the Ajith starrer is estimated to have earned around 70 lakh share on its opening day in AP.

The film has reportedly performed in the same range on Saturday (7 December). However, details about the film's Saturday collections are yet to be available. "Aata "Arrambam" is expected to post a decent total in its first weekend.

Directed by Vishnu Vardhan of "Panja" fame, the stylish action entertainer stars Ajith, Arya, Nayanthara, Taapsee Pannu, Kishore, Atul Kulkarni, Mahesh Manjrekar and Krishna in pivotal roles. Actor Rana Daggubatti appears in a cameo in the film.

"Aata Arrambam" is the Telugu dubbed version of Tamil film "Arrambam." The Tamil version was released more than a month ago in other states including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala as well as overseas markets. The film turned out to be a huge hit and was declared blockbuster. "Arrambam" is one of the highest grossing Tamil films of 2013. However, the Telugu version might not perform as good as the Tamil version. Still, "Aata Arrambam" could collect decent revenues at AP box office.

Ajith has a huge fan following across south Indian states. Although the actor's Tamil films have performed well, their Telugu dubbed versions have failed to set the cash registers ringing. "Aata Arrambam" is expected to break that jinx and perform well.

Gautham Menon doesn't want to leave any opportunity to make his first-ever movie with Ajith Kumar a biggie. Hence, he approached AR Rahman. They had earlier worked in Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, its Telugu version Ye Maaya Chesave and the Hindi version Ek Deewana Tha.

The makers of Veeram has revealed the looks of Tamanna in Veeram recently.

After the success of Paiyaa, Tamanna Bhatia was roped with a lot of offers from Telugu film industry. Also, she had got some opportunities to work in Bollywood. So, she was not seen in Tamil films for nearly two years even though she did a cameo role in Jeeva starrer Ko in 2011.

The film’s director Siva said Ajith will be seen in a mass-appealing avatar in Veeram. Ajith’s last three releases were action flicks – Mankatha, Billa 2 and Arrambam. He played a suave urban character in all these films. Unlike the other films, Ajith will be completely seen as a dhoti-clad character and claim a rural look throughout the film.He further said Ajith will dance to romantic numbers with Tamannaah, romance her on screen and also match steps to a fast-paced folk number.

Veeram scheduled to release January 10, 2014, also features Avinash, Vidharth, Suhail Chandhok, Pradeep Rawat, Vidyullekha Raman and Manochitra in important roles.

Venkat Prabhu Planning For Mankatha 2?

Is Venkat Prabhu planning a sequel to blockbuster Mankatha? This is the one question discussed by the director's followers and Ajith Kumar's fans over the weekend. The rumours grew stronger after the release of Naveena Saraswathi Sabatham in which the filmmaker has played a guest role.

In Naveena Saraswathi Sabatham, Venkat Prabhu has given a hint about Mankatha 2 plans. The audience, who have seen the Tamil flick, have started raising debate over the flick. Nonetheless, the director has not spilled beans on the same and has said that his present concern is Biriyani starring Karthi.

According to Venkat Prabhu, he has not given a thought about it and he could only think about his next movie once his Biriyani hits the screens. Presently, he is concentrating on Karthi's movie. However, the director likes to work with Ajith Kumar again.

Theatre Owners Prefer Veeram-Jilla
The powerful theatre owners in Tamil Nadu have once again displayed their strength by forcing the movie bosses of Kochadaiiyaan to postpone its release to accommodate trouble-free releases of Ajith Kumar's Veeram and Vijay's Jilla. Without any options, the makers of Rajinikanth's flick had to push the release, which was supposed to release for Pongal.

This development has paved way for mother of all battles, as Ajith Kumar and Vijay’s movies will clash at the Box Office. Veeram and Jilla will now hit the screens for Pongal and these films will equally share the cine screens in the state. This has come as a big relief for the both the films because the Rajinikanth's Kochadaiiyaan would have played a spoilsport.

This made theatre owners to take a call on the issue and come to a conclusion that they support Veeram and Jilla.

Ajith's Veeram Shoot Completed

Ajith Kumar's forthcoming movie Veeram shooting has come to an end. With this development, the movie has moved a step further towards its release for Pongal.

Veeram shooting has been completed at a rapid pace. The makers of the movie shot the flick as per their plans and this helped the film to wrap up on time. It was also said that the team did not mess up with dates due to Ajith Kumar's impending leg surgery.

The film is an action thriller directed by Siva, who had earlier made Siruthai with Karthi. It is said to be a masala entertainer with all the ingredients of success - love, romance, action and comedy. The forthcoming movie is produced by Bharathi Reddy under the banner Vijaya Productions.

Meanwhile, the movie bosses are planning about the audio release of Veeram. Sources say that the music would hit the stores on December 18. Devi Sri Prasad has composed the music for the flick.

Veeram, which features Tamanna Bhatia in the female lead role, will hit the screens for Pongal. According to reports, the movie bosses have decided to release the film on January 10. It will be clashing with Vijay's Jilla.

Ajith defies death!

Ajith is someone who doesn't mind taking risks for his films. Be it performing daring stunts on moving vehicles, trying out the salt-and-pepper look, or playing the hero with a baddie image, he has always been sporting. And many are aware of the injuries he has sustained and the surgeries he has undergone while shooting for stunt scenes in his films. But looks like this hasn't stopped the actor from performing intense action sequences for his film; especially the ones that involve him hanging!

Even in his latest Veeram, we hear Ajith fought the baddies atop a moving train. A source reveals, "This sequence was shot in Orissa, and has Ajith fighting inside a train, and on top of it! There's a particular sequence in which he is pushed out of a moving train; he hangs from a bar as the train crosses a bridge. This is one of the several scenes that have been shot using helicams."

Mankatha

This sequence in which Ajith does a wheelie with Mahath in the pillion, leaps on to a moving van from his superbike and hangs from under the van, received the loudest claps in the theatres. The fact that the actor is a biker in real life seems to have helped him perfect this scene.

Billa II

Move over bikes and vans, the makers have chosen a chopper for Ajith this time. With two drool-worthy actors, Ajith and Vidyut, fighting it out in a flying helicopter and namma Thala hanging for his dear life, quite literally, had us on the edge of our seats.

Arrambam

There's a lot of action in Ajith's latest film. But we dig this scene in which the actor forces the door of the police van open and jumps out in full speed, stunning every cop, the crew, and us.

Ajith makes the first move

While Ajith's Veeram has been confirmed for a Pongal release on January 10., the film has already started to make business with Rama Narayanan's 'Thenandal Films' acquiring NSC and Chennai area distribution rights of 'Veeram' for a whopping amount. The shoot of the film is almost over and post-production work has started in full swing.

Veeram starring Ajith and Tamanna in the lead roles is directed by Siruthai Siva. The shooting of the film is progressing at a brisk pace and is expected to be wrapped soon. The producers want the first copy ready by December end, so that censor can take place in the first week of the New Year.

Produced by Vijaya Productions, Veeram also includes Santhanam, Ramesh Khanna, Vidharth, Bala, Munish, Devadarshini, Vidyullekha Raman, Suhail Chandhok and Pradeep Rawat in key roles. With Vijay's Jilla also touted to hit the screens for Pongal, it is more or less confirmed that it will be a Vijay (Jilla) versus Ajith (Veeram) clash for Pongal of 2014.

Ajith Raises The Bar Again

It was an helicopter scene in Billa and a car chasing scene in Arrambam that showed Ajith Kumar's desire to perform action sequences on his own without using body double. Now, he seems to have raised the bar as in his latest movie Veeram, he has done a stunt sequence on a train.

Director Siruthai Siva has spilled the beans over the action sequence in forthcoming Arrambam. The filmmaker himself was tensed when Ajith Kumar performed the stunt sequence. Even though he knew that Thala was pushing his limits, the director couldn't stop because the actor was eager on doing the action scene on his own.

It was a two-minute scene where Ajith Kumar was flirting with danger. Ajith Kumar also told Siva not to change his concept of filming the scene just because he was performing. Siruthai Siva says that such scenes would give shivers to action directors too, but the Mankatha actor confidently performed it.

On the other end, Ajith Kumar, who injured his right leg during the shooting of his last release Arrambam, will be undergoing a surgery soon.

Veeram also features Tamanna Bhatia, Santhanam and others in the cast. It will hit the screens in January and the audio of the flick will hit the stores in December.

Kochadaiiyaan Out Of Pongal Race, Veeram-Jilla To Clash?

Kochadaiiyaan's release news left the traders unsettled last week. It made the traders to imagine the chaotic situation in Kollywood for Pongal with the Rajinikanth's movie competing with other biggies like Ajith Kumar's Veeram and Vijay's Jilla.

The producers of Veeram and Jilla, which had been billed as the Pongal treat a long ago, were unhappy with the latest development as they wanted good number of screens for their movies. The sudden entry of Rajini's movie was not welcomed by them.

But without showing any sign of fear over Kochadaiiyaan release, they decided to reconfirm their releases for Pongal by giving ads on papers. As traders and audience started anticipating the clash, here comes a surprising news again.

The buzz says that Kochadaiiyaan has backed out of the Pongal race. Reading the situation, the makers of the Rajinikanth film have now decided to postpone the release of the forthcoming mega-budget movie. Indeed, it has now cleared the way for the clash of Veeram and Jilla at Tamil Box Office for pongal.

Sources say that the makers of Kochadaiiyaan wanted to avoid the clash of three big movies. They know that it will not help any movie even though the Rajinikanth's movie would get maximum screens for its release. Hence, the release date of the Tamil flick has been pushed.

Director's Fear, Ajith's Dare

Most often, directors conceive a concept which they convince the actor to take up and perform. But it is very rare to find an actor who is understanding of the director's requirements and volunteers to perform; and that too, when the director himself is wary of. We are talking about director Siva's Ajith starrer upcoming 'Veeram'. As reported earlier, the train fight sequence is a head turner in the movie, and is highly risky. Shot in Andhra Pradesh-Odisha border, the film involved very high levels of risk and the Siva claims that this was the only scene in his entire career, which he hesitated to shoot, owing to the lack of precautions, given the location of shoot.

Speaking on the episode, Siva says "It is one of the most daring stunts I have ever shot. It was so risky that I was not prepared to go for the shoot. But Ajith insisted that he will take the scene forward perform the stunt. He is certainly one of the most daring and dedicated actors. But he seldom believes in heroism and follows the script and goes to any extent that it demands."

Ajith in a romantic mood

The last two releases of Ajith may not have had much of romance it, courtesy the star's bad boy role, but it looks like Veeram will come as a whiff of fresh air for his fans. The last time the actor actually shook a leg was for Mankatha in which he had a few duet numbers with Trisha.

In Veeram, the actor has a duet with Tamannaah and if a recent poster is to go by, the song was shot in Switzerland. So, it looks like Ajith's fans might have a reason to look forward to this Pongal, to see their Thala in a romantic mood.

Shahrukh Khan loves Ajith's Arrambam

Bollywood Baadshah Shahrukh Khan who is currently shooting for his upcoming flick 'Happy New Year' caught up with director Vishnuvardhan who was the associate of Santosh Sivan while Shahrukh was doing 'Ashoka' in 2001 which also had Ajith doing a small role in the film. While a lot of ' Arrambam' was shot in Mumbai, the director was often seen in Mumbai. With the movie released and running successfully in the theatres, one wonders why Vishnuvardhan is still visiting Mumbai often. Is the director's next a bollywood flick with a top star?

Ajith's 'Veeram' Officially Confirmed for Pongal Release, Set to Clash with 'Jilla' and 'Kochadaiiyaan'

The makers of Ajith's "Veeram" have confirmed that the film will hit screens during the Pongal festival. However, an exact release date has not yet been revealed. It is likely to release on 10th October, a few days ahead of the harvest festival.

Vijaya Productions, producers of the film, have assured that the Ajith starrer will be a real treat for fans. Ajith will don a rusty look in the film, which audiences haven't seen in the past few years. "Thala" (Ajith is fondly referred by this name) has been doing stylish roles since "Billa" released in 2007. His traditional attire combined with his trademark salt and pepper hair gives him the typical mass hero look in "Veeram".

Ajith is reportedly playing a lively character in "Veeram" that is sure to impress his fans. The film's shooting is expected to be completed in a few days. The makers have already begun the post-production work, in order to release the film on the scheduled date.

The film gave Ajith his best ever opening. This has raised the expectations for "Veeram". It remains to be seen if the Siva directorial will turn to be another hit in Ajith's career.

The action entertainer will not have a solo release and is likely to face strong competition from other biggies. Vijay's "Jilla" is expected to release during the Pongal festival period. A few days ago, "Kochadaiiyaan" co-producer confirmed that the Rajinikanth starrer is gearing up for a 10 January release. With three big releases, there will be a huge battle for screens. But it will be a real treat for cinema lovers to see their favourite stars taking on each other at the box office.

Both Kamal and Rajinikanth's film were supposed to hit the screen in November and December this year respectively, but have now been pushed to 2014. Both the legendary actor would like to cache in on the festive season of Pongal and take on Ajith and Vijay, or perhaps opt to give them a breather and clash against each other with a Republic Day release.

A New Arrambam For Ajith Kumar

Ajith Kumar is back with his next release Arrambam. After more than a year, Thala is having a release in the form of the flick directed by Vishnuvardhan. The latest film will release on October 31 as a Diwali treat for the Tamil audience. The industry has pinned high hopes on the movie and are expecting it to create fresh records at the Kollywood Box Office.

The actor's last movie Billa 2 was a disaster at Box Office. It was a sequel to his earlier hit movie Billa, which was directed by Vishnuvardhan. The director was supposed to helm the project, but opted out due to other commitments. Then, it fell in the lap of Chakri Toleti. The Tamil movie did not live up to audience expectations and the collections were lukewarm at the Tamil Box Office.

Now, Ajith Kumar wants to erase the sad memory of Billa 2 with Arrambam. His fans want the movie to break all his previous records at the Box Office and wish that it will be a new 'arrambam' for the Varalaaru star. The movie team is positive about the outcome and they are claiming that it will be a new beginning for Thala.

Arrambam Cinematographer Opens Up On Ajith's Accident

Cinematographer Om Prakash, who has handled the camera for forthcoming Tamil movie Ajith Kumar starrer Arrambam, says it is the professionalism of the lead actor that brings the best out of any cameraman. The first eye to witness any film is the eye of the cameraman. When the cameraman endorses that his creation gets better with the professionalism, it goes to show how much more one gets when you have a senior and dedicated actor like Ajith Kumar dons the screen.

Praising the dedication, professionalism and motivation of the Thala. Om Prakash quotes "With a keen eye for detail and amazing camera sense, the Ajith got into the thick of things during the shoot and didn't forego any opportunity to give positive feedback to me - a huge motivation for me and something that made me push myself to the limit."

Talking about the Ajith's accident during the making, Om Prakash claims, "The accident scene that Ajith Kumar sir shot was widely covered and seen by all, giving an insight into the same. The car travelling at over 100 km/hr the scene was for over 7 minutes where Ajith sir knee was getting battered on the bonnet of the car he fell on.

Surya Out, Ajith Kumar In For Gautham Menon's Next?

Surya, who has been a good friend of director Gautham Menon, is out of the director's next movie. And it appears like the filmmaker, who had a spat with Ajith Kumar earlier, is now approached for his forthcoming movie.

In what could be a surprising move, Gautham Menon has approached Ajith Kumar for his next movie. The director has decided to put behind the disappointing chapter of Surya's project and has now met Thala for his forthcoming flick.

Sources say that there are strong chances of Ajith Kumar and Gautham Menon joining hands again. The actor's manager has confirmed their meeting, but claimed that it could be too early to talk about the development.

It is not sure whether Gautham Menon has approached Ajith Kumar to star in Dhruva Natchathiram, which was offered to Surya. While some say that it is the same script, others believe that the director approached him with a brand new script.

The moment after the news was out, Ajith Kumar fans were thrilled and expressed their happiness over the development on social networking sites. They also started debating about the project even though they knew that it is too early to talk about the proposed film.

Ajith Kumar Watches Arrambam, Praises Arya!

The special screening of the mega-budget film of the year Arrambam was organised for the censor officials on Friday (October 18). They certified the movie with 'U'. It was said, they were lavish in praising the basic content of the film too. As Ajith Kumar will not be available in Chennai during the release of the film on 31st (He will be in Hyderabad from 20 October to 5th November for the shooting of Veeram), the producers Shree Sathya Sai films represented by A Raghuram, screened a special show for the Thala and his family.

After the conclusion of the film, Ajith Kumar praised the director Vishnuvardhan and thanked him for giving him a big film like this. The actor was lavish with his praise and then called up his co-star of the film Arrambam and praised him to no ends for his superb performance.

"Your combination with Taapsee Pannu was amazing. The vibration of youth is written all over your performance. You will win over the hearts of all the audience. I am sure this film will take you to great heights. Be assured of a great year ahead as you have been tasting success consequently," the star known for his penchant in inspiring youngsters told Arya.

Ajith turns villain again?

While Vishnuvardhan directed 'Arrambam' starring Ajith, Nayanthara, Arya and Taapsee is gearing for a Diwali release, the director seems to have revealed an interesting aspect of the film. The fans are in for surprise treat as their star Thala Ajith would have two faces in the film.

Ajith has two faces in the film. While one definitely is a gray side, the director seems to be tight lipped about the other face and has said that he cannot reveal if he plays the villain or not. Remember Ajith had done a similar thing in his landmark 50th film, 'Mankatha' directed by Venkat Prabhu.

Produced by AM Rathnam's Sri Surya Movies, in association with A Raghuram's Sri Satya Sai Movies, ' Arrambam' has Ajith, Nayanthara, Arya and Taapsee in the lead with handsome hunk Rana Daggubati playing an important role.

Ajith's Arrambam cleared with 'U'

Vishnuvardhan directed 'Arrambam' starring Ajith, Nayanthara, Arya and Taapsee has been cleared with a clean 'U certificate by the Censor Board. The much awaited Ajith flick is gearing for a Diwali release and will hit the screens on October 31st. The film has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, and cinematography by Om Prakash.

Arrambam is touted to be a complete family entertainer and hence a U certificate is very much on cards. The team has shot some high energy action sequences in Dubai, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Mahabaleshwar, Jaisalmer, Leh and Ladakhs.

Arrambam is the second combination of Ajith, Nayantara and director Vishnuvardhan. The combination of trio was last seen in 2007 film titled Billa. Studio Green's Karthi starrer 'All in All Alaghu Raja' is also set to hit the screens for Diwali. Meanwhile Ajith is currently shooting for Tamil rural action-drama 'Veeram', and it is likely to release during Pongal next year.

I was impressed by Ajith's work, Says fitness master Shiva!

It is known that ajith has shaped up his muscles for his upcoming releases Aarambam and Veeram. Shiva who is fitness adviser for ajith said that he was stunned by ajith's hard work. Despite injury in his knee, Ajith has never failed to workout 6-8 hours for a day to build his muscles said by impressed Shiva.

The first list of Arrambam

There has been rumours around the industry lately that Vishnuvardhan’s Arrambam might not get enough theaters as planned, with Rajesh’s All in All Azhaguraja also coming out on the same  day. Shattering the speculations, team Arrambam revealed the first list of theateres they have already blocked.

Arrambam: Vendhar Movies Acquires Key Distribution Rights

With makers of Arrambam announcing the release date of the movie, the competition to buy the distribution rights of the movie for various regions has begun in full swing. First among them is that Salem and Trichy rights have been sold to Vendhar Movies.

Trade reports say that Vendhar Movies has pulled off the Arrambam deal for a good price. There was negotiations based on the business made by other stars in Salem and Trichy regions. The collections of Ajith Kumar's last movies were also taken into the consideration before fixing the price.

Vendhar Movies has tasted success in the present year by distributing Ethir Neechal and Thalaivaa. The latest deal has left both parties happy and there is a win-win situation between them, says a source. Already, the distribution rights of the Karnataka region has been acquired by Sri Lakshmi Narayana Enterprises.

Arrambam will hit the screens for Diwali. It is reported that the upcoming Kollywood flick will be released on October 31. But the official announcement is yet to be made.

Ajith's rides bike from Pune to Chennai

Thala  Ajith was on a road trip again and this time, he rode his  bike from Pune to Chennai! He seems to be continuing his road safety campaign and this time around, the actor, it seems, wanted to explore the traffic culture in the country via his bike trip.

A source close to the actor says, "After wrapping up a small patch work for Arrambam, Ajith drove his bike from Mumbai to Pune,  to  shoot  for  Veeram.  After completing his 20-day schedule for the film, he decided to ride back from  Pune  to  Chennai in his bike.  With the help of a road map, he rode more than 1300 km  for  about 19 hours in his bike with all the necessary safety gear. This road trip is to continue the road safety campaign and also to get to know more about the traffic culture in India. He has always wanted to discover that."

It looks like the star had a great time during his biking expedition — which was evident by the fact that he stopped for lunch and dinner at a couple of highway dhabas, experiencing the local cuisine as well. The source adds, "He felt that the road trip was like meditation. It gave him a lot of time to contemplate his other future plans too. He enjoyed eating out at the roadside shops and has been telling his friends about how rejuvenating this recent trip was."

Ayngaran grabs 'Arrambam'

Ajith Kumar-starrer 'Aarambam' has already made a lot of noise and is shaping as one of the bigger releases for the forthcoming Deepavali festival.  The film directed by Vishnuvardhan and produced by AM Rathnam, has been snapped up by Ayngaran International and Vendhar Movies for  the distribution rights, it seems.

'Arrambam' is set for a 31 October release. If sources are to be believed, Ayngaran will distribute it in the North Arcot, South Arcot and Chengalpet area (NSC) while Vendhar Movies will  release the film in Tiruchi and Salem and Cosmo Films will handle the Coimbatore area. Also, as far as Chennai is concerned, the film might be released by the producers Sri Sathya Sai Films. But, nothing is finalised as yet.  'Arrambam' stars Arya, Nayantara, Tapsi, Atul Kulkarni, Mahesh Manjrekar, Rana Daggubatti, Suman Ranganathan and others apart from  Ajith. Music is by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Ajith’s next to be announced soon

Even as Ajith's film with Vishnuvardhan is gearing up to hit screens, speculations about his next film have started doing rounds. And the latest buzz is that Yaavarum Nalam director Vikram Kumar has narrated a script to the actor.

A source close to Ajith says, "Vikram and Ajith have not had any discussion about the script yet, but he has huge respect for Vikram and his style of filmmaking. He has been getting several offers, but promotion of Arrambam and shooting for Siva's Veeram have kept him occupied. However, announcement regarding his next is most likely to be made before Vishnu's film hits screen."

Meanwhile, makers of his film with Vishnuvardhan have installed life-size standees of Ajith at malls and theatres to promote the film.

"This is the first time that the actor will have standees displayed at malls," the source adds.

Ajith To Join Hands With Vikram

Ajith Kumar's Next With Vikram The moment we read the headline, we assume that the Thala would joining hands with Chiyaan Vikram. Well, it is not. The actor will be teaming up with director Vikram Kumar of Yaavarum Nalam fame. The movie will be reportedly produced by AM Rathnam, who has funded Ajith's forthcoming Arrambam.
The director is currently busy with the Telugu movie titled Manam. Vikram Kumar has a horror story in his hand. Well, sources say that Ajith Kumar has not given a green signal yet. It is still in the early stages.

Ajith's plan for 2014!

With Vishnuvardhan's 'Arrambam' shooting wrapped and Siruthai Siva’s flick announced Veeram to hit the screens for Pongal 2014, Thala Ajith would soon be wrapping up the shoot for Siva's Veeram film. While the fans would be eager to know about Ajith's future projects, the star actor has decided to take a break. Owing to his leg and back injuries, Ajith has decided to take a break for the next one  year. The star is currently undergoing physiotherapy for his injuries and will undergo a surgery probably in mid October this year. He will have to recuperate for at least four months after that. Any new project will be decided upon only after that. Since his health has taken a toll due to his heavy work, the star has decided to take a much needed break.

In Arrambam, Ajith's character is very stylish, on the lines of Billa and Mankatha

In Arrambam, Ajith's character is very stylish, on the lines of Billa and Mankatha.

Billa (2007) was a landmark film for Ajith Kumar — a film that brought together director Vishnuvardhan and Ajith. The duo, during the making of the film, made up their minds to come together again sometime soon. Meanwhile, Vishnuvardhan got busy with his own projects and Ajith completed director Venkat Prabhu’s Mankatha, another huge hit, and Billa 2. The two have joined forces again and the result: Arrambam, a movie slated for a grand Diwali release. Ajith is busy with director Siva’s Veeram getting ready for an early 2014 release. Excerpts from an interview with the actor:

How would you describe your roles in Arrambam and Veeram?

The best part of both films is the diversity of roles. In Arrambam, my character is very stylish, on the lines of Billa and Mankatha. I play a mean guy —imagine a politically incorrect character. As with all A. M. Rathnam films, there will be a strong social message. Some of the issues dealt with are universal in nature.

As for Veeram, I play a rustic character, attired in a dhoti most of the time. I have enjoyed doing this action-oriented role; I think the last time I did such a role was in Attagasam.

What is the one thing that you look for in a role?

I consider myself a professional actor, paid to do the job — to enact the role as conceived by the director. Fortunately, in most of the films I have done so far, the scripts carried roles that suited me. I have progressed from youthful, romantic roles to action and now more mature ones. I do believe in the bound script but it doesn’t always happen. Sometimes you have to trust a director’s capability. I look for compatibility with the producer as well as the director. At the end of the day, we are all here to give our best and for me, there should be job satisfaction.

Are you a director’s actor? How much do you contribute to a film or a role?

I am driven by the director’s vision. As an actor, I do offer suggestions. I think if we use our talent to improvise within the area of acting, without infringing on the director’s creativity, it proves beneficial to the film. When there are no egos to tackle on the set, it makes life wonderful.

What has given you satisfaction — playing a romantic hero, an action hero or an actor with negative shades?

I have done my share of romantic films in my youth. I have grown older and insist that I will only play roles that suit my present looks, salt and pepper hair included. Luckily, Mankatha and Billa 2 came along. Now, in Arrambam and Veeram, the trend continues. Remember, doing characters with a slight negative shade does not take away the romance and fight out of you! I try to do roles I am comfortable with. Work is a motivation for me, irrespective of the character I play.

Health and fitness issues have plagued you in recent times. Despite the risks involved, why do you prefer to do most of the stunts yourself?

Accidents and injuries are part of this profession — call them occupational hazards. Thankfully, I have had good doctors who have helped me recover fast. Health and fitness are issues for anyone in any vocation. As for stunts, to an extent, we have to do them ourselves to lend them authenticity. Of course, there are professional stuntmen who are paid to do sequences and we as actors have always respected them. Many a time, they have come to our rescue too. Today’s audiences are very discerning and can spot a badly done stunt scene with doubles. So we have to give them their money’s worth when they come to watch our films.

Your love for speed and safe driving skills is a curious combination.

I have been both a bike and car racer since I was 18. I love speed but with caution. Having raced in India and abroad under internationally renowned drivers, I have learnt the art and the need to adopt safe driving practices. Today, when I ride my superbikes even on the road, I ensure I wear a helmet, gloves, boots and, on long drives, an overall. I plan to launch a website that will be updated with lots of advice, guidance and videos taken during my road trips on my two superbikes – BMW and Aprilia.

Issues related to society, environment… which is closest to your heart?

I believe if you are an honest taxpayer, that itself is a huge contribution to society. It’s the responsibility of the various government departments to use the taxpayers’ money for the benefit of society and the environment. I do my best for my family and personal staff. We co-exist — as much as they depend on me for their livelihood, my family and I depend on them too. I would not like to publicise my philanthropic activities.

Besides acting, you’re passionate about flying, aero-modelling and photography.

Due to several reasons, I couldn’t acquire a private pilot licence. I did the next best thing — aero-modelling. I have a collection of model aircraft which I fly from a private airstrip near Chennai. Post Arrambam and Veeram, I plan to undergo a long-pending surgery to repair a torn ligament in my leg. After this, I will go abroad on a six-month vacation to not just recuperate but also to indulge in aero-modelling at one of the leading centres. Photography is a passion and I think I have an eye for the unusual. I do not do this for any commercial reason, though.
